Open to all incoming students and their families, New Student and Family Convocation is a ceremony that honors a new beginning. Just as commencement is a ritual marking the completion of study, convocation is a ritual that signals the beginning of a college career. The event will start off with an early-morning band run, in which students and families meet outside the residence halls at 8:45 a.m. and join the SDSU marching band and cheerleaders in an exciting trek through the heart of campus. The formal ceremony for New Student and Family Convocation will begin promptly at 10 a.m. in Cox Arena. After the event, a special reception will be held for incoming transfer students. Faculty, staff, and continuing students are welcome to attend this event and participate in the festivities.
