From April 1 to May 23, Library and Information Access at San Diego State University will host the traveling exhibit “The Mind of Krishnamurti: World Citizen, World Teacher” in partnership with the Departments of Philosophy and Religious Studies, Common Experience, and the Krishnamurti Foundation of America. The 22-panel exhibit with media and support materials illustrates the life and work of one of the leading philosopher/thinkers of the 20th century in the context of pivotal national and global events throughout nine decades. The exhibit will be on display in the Reference Services area on the first floor of the Library Addition.
A particular focus of the exhibit is Krishnamurti's decades-long work in education and explores the question "What does it mean to live intelligently?" The exhibit coincides with the class PHIL 575: Krishnamurti offered by the Philosophy Department and will help to highlight a significant Krishnamurti archive held by the Department of Special Collections in the Library.
An opening reception will be held in Love Library, Room 430, on Thursday, April 10 at 4:00 p.m. The reception will feature speakers from the Department of Religious Studies, the Department of Philosophy and the Krishnamurti Foundation and will include brief segments of a video documentary on Krishnamurti. Selected items from the Krishnamurti archive held by the Department of Special Collections will also be on display.
