Writer Ella deCastro Baron will be the featured artist at the Laurie Okuma Memorial Reading on Thursday, November 12, at 7:00 p.m. in Room LL430 of the San Diego State University Library, 5500 Campanile Drive. The event is free and open to all.
Baron is a first generation Filipina American born in Oakland and raised in Vallejo, California. She received her BA in English literature from UC Berkeley earned a Master of Fine Arts degree in creative writing from SDSU. She is a part-time English and creative writing instructor at San Diego City College, and her works have been published in “Fiction International,” “Sunshine Noir,” and “CityWorks Literary Journal.” Her first book, “Itchy, Brown Girl Seeks Employment,” was published in September 2009.
